Eli Grow Legacy 8k is almost here

For people who like to run or walk, like to do things for a good cause, or do both, the Eli Grow Legacy 8k is something to consider participating in. The event is less than two weeks away from starting.

Eli Grow was a beloved THS student who lost his life tragically in a car accident back in 2016. His parents, Tony and Cassy Grow, in 2017, made a nonprofit organization, the Eli Grow Legacy Foundation, that is set up to help Tullahoma athletics in a number of ways.

“The Eli Grow Legacy 8K has been a fundraiser that has always included the support of the Tullahoma High School Football Team and Coaches. It has always been held at The Tullahoma High School football stadium. We chose a 8K because Eli wore number eight on the Tullahoma High school football team before he passed away on April 3O, 2016. With permission and support from Tullahoma City Schools and the Parish Family we were able to have Eli’s 8K start at THS, travel down Wilson Avenue then to Hwy 130 and from there onto the Parish Property at the Airport. With the help of Russell Credle we mowed a path through the beautiful wood lined fields and from there the 8K path continued to Cedar Lane and crossing over to the Greenway to the THS ROTC and Band Field then back to the stadium for one final lap to complete the 8K. For almost ten years we have hosted Eli’s 8K the first weekend in November at the end of regular season Football. Coach Olive helped with choosing the date as it was a fall fundraiser that would be involving football,” said Cassy Grow.

“Coach Olive and Coach Sisk and all the football coaches and players every year have supported this fundraiser with their time, and care to our Family and to remembering Eli!
The Eli Grow Legacy 8K was a fundraiser to remember Eli and to help support a dream he had for the Tullahoma Football Program and all athletes at Tullahoma.

Fulfilling Eli’s DREAM is our family’s mission! The Eli Grow Legacy 8K has only been one of the ways our Family and the Eli Grow Legacy Foundation, INC has been raising money. In the Spring each year on or close to Eli’s Birthday we have an Eli Grow Legacy Golf Tournament at Willowbrook Golf Course. What started out as a half day morning tournament has now grown to two tournaments morning and afternoon. Next year we plan to host a second tournament in the Fall and most likely in October.

Most people may not realize that Legacy Creamery by far raises the most money and is the Eli Grow Legacy Foundation’s main source of Funding. 100 percent of all the profit from Legacy Creamery goes to Eli’s Foundation!! At Legacy Creamery we create (handcraft start to finish) authentic Italian Gelato and Sorbets as well as Non-Dairy/Gluten Free (OatMilk)Gelato. Currently only open weekends Friday’s and Saturday’s 12PM-9PM and Sunday’s 12PM-8PM. Buying Legacy Creamery Gelato allows the opportunity for anyone to make a contribution with one small purchase while enjoying the most delicious Gelato you will ever enjoy!

Eli’s Dream was shared with me (Cassy Grow-Eli’s Mom) while driving home from one of his athletic training days in Franklin, TN. Eli said “Mom when I am able after college I want to build an athletic facility similar to where I am training now so that all athletes in Tullahoma can train right here with the latest and greatest training and equipment and not have so far to travel!”

This year, the Legacy 8K will be fully virtual, and it will be on Nov.14. More information for the event is on https:// eligrow.raceroster.com/. All proceeds from the Legacy 8K will go to the Eli Grow Legacy Foundation.
