Johnie Randall “Randy” Wilson, 80

Johnie Randall “Randy” Wilson, 80, of Tullahoma passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and close friends at his side.

Randy was born on May 28, 1946, and spent his life dedicated to serving others through education, athletics, faith, family, and community. A beloved teacher, coach, and principal, Randy touched the lives of countless students, athletes, fellow educators, and friends throughout his career. He was passionate about helping young people succeed and was deeply respected by those who had the privilege of working alongside him. Athletics played a central role in Randy’s life. As a young man, he excelled in football and baseball before becoming a collegiate gymnast. He coached gymnastics, women’s track, women’s basketball and the West Middle School golf team, inspiring generations of athletes with his enthusiasm, encouragement, and dedication. Randy also founded and directed a summer gymnastics camp that brought together elite coaches and gymnasts from across the country. For his family, those summers created some of their most cherished memories. Randy’s commitment to Tullahoma extended far beyond his professional career. He was a devoted supporter of Tullahoma High School athletics, volunteering countless hours with the booster club, transporting equipment, and running the clock at basketball games.

He loved being part of the community and found joy in supporting students and athletes long after his own children had grown. Above all, Randy was a family man. He is survived by his wife, Paulette Wilson, his partner in life since the eighth grade. They weathered life’s many joys and challenges, always anchored by unwavering dedication and love for their kids and grandkids. Together, they built a family that was the pride and joy of Randy’s life. He is also survived by his children, Troy Wilson and his wife Courtney, Mandy Wilson, and Chad Wilson; and his six grandchildren, Madison Wilson, Nash Wilson, Winslow Wilson, Palmer Wilson, Dorothy Wilson, and Finn Scoby. Randy was known for his larger-than-life personality, generous spirit, and endless willingness to help others. He loved telling stories—often the same ones more than once— and those stories, along with his infectious laughter and warm smile, will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, hosting backyard barbecues, and gathering family and friends together. He celebrated the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren with immense pride and never missed an opportunity to let them know how much he loved them. A faithful Christian, Randy lived a life grounded in kindness, and service to others. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, Randy’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he influenced, the family he loved so deeply, and the community he served so faithfully. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, respected educator and coach, loyal friend, and a man whose life was defined by generosity, enthusiasm, and love.
