Gwendolyn “Lyn” Rhodes Reese, 85

Gwendolyn “Lyn” Rhodes Reese, 85, passed away on Nov. 30, 2025, in Chattanooga, just one day after celebrating her 85th birthday.  Her passing followed a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on Nov. 29. 1940, in Chattanooga, Lyn was the daughter of the late Thomas David Rhodes and Evelyn Miniard Rhodes.  She was raised in the East Brainerd area of Chattanooga and graduated from City High School in 1958.  After graduation she attended Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN.  It was there that she met her future husband, Clem Allison Reese.  They were married on May 9, 1964, at Concord Baptist Church in Chattanooga.

Following their marriage, Lyn and Clem settled in Tullahoma, where she raised her two children, Dawn Allison Reese and Charles David Reese.   She remained in Tullahoma until Clem’s passing in 2023.  After his death, Lyn returned to Chattanooga to be closer to her children.  After struggling with ongoing health issues, she succumbed to cancer the day after celebrating her 85th birthday.

Lyn is survived by her children Dawn and Charles, and her grandson Byron Bass.

Her body was donated to Vanderbilt School of Medicine in hope that she might help others.

Per her request, no formal service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hearth Hospice in Chattanooga.
