THS singers receive national and state honors
Twelve Tullahoma High School singers recently made a lot of joyful noise, as they were recently named to their respective honor choirs.
THS had six students selected to the American Choral Directors Association’s (ACDA) Southern Regional Honor Choir. Those singers include Wesley Hanson, Timothy Hanson, Allie Hice, Ava O’Neil, Peyton Pinegar and Alex Tobitt.
“These students successfully auditioned for placement in their ensembles from a pool of 1,500 applicants,” said THS Music Teacher Melissa Hinds. “This choir is made of the best singers in the Southern United States. I am extremely proud of each of these students.”
These students will now participate in the 2025 ACDA Southern Region Conference in Memphis from March 4-7. During those four days, singers will participate in their choirs and perform a concert with some of the most lauded choral directors in the country.
Tullahoma High School also had eight students named to the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association Mid-State Chorus. Additionally, Peyton Pinegar was selected to the Tennessee Music Educator Association’s (TNMEA) All-State Choir, while Wesley Hanson was named an alternate.
Pinegar and Wesley Hanson were additionally chosen to the MTVA Mid-State Chorus along with William Dawe, Ava O’Neil, Valerie Pacheco and Alex Tobitt. Cooper Collins and Aaliyah Morris were selected as alternates.
THS also had four students named to the MTVA Freshman Honor Choir. Those students include Hannah Eakin, Timothy Hanson, Brianna Witham and Carly Siebenberg.
“Over 1,400 students auditioned for these ensembles,” Hinds said. “I am so proud of all of our singers who auditioned. This shows the students’ dedication to the THS Choral Program, high standard of excellence, and the desire to improve their own skills.”
The MTVA Mid-State Honor Choir will perform on Nov. 18 at Belle Aire Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. The MTVA Freshman Honor Choir will perform on Jan. 22, also at Belle Aire Baptist Church. The TNMEA All-State Chorus will perform on April 12 at Gaylord Opryland in Nashville.
“We truly have some sensational singers here in Tullahoma,” said TCS Director of Schools Dr. Catherine Stephens. “To have 12 students receive accolades this year is exceptional. This is a direct representation of the amazing choral programs across all schools in our district, and kudos to Melissa Hinds for her continued guidance and leadership of our high school choral students. Congratulations to each of these students for their dedication to excellence in music and their outstanding performances leading to these achievements.”
