West Middle School basketball season returns

GRAY DEYOSports Writer

The weather is getting colder outside, which means basketball is getting closer. For West Middle School their season starts on Oct. 17, while East Middle School’s season opener shortly follows.

West boys

Last year, the West Boys team put together a truly special season.  They won the Area championship and made it all the way to the sectionals, where their season then came to an end. They had an uber talented team with many of their players graduating to join a THS boys’ basketball program that sprang onto the radar of many people in TN last season with their run to state. It will be exciting to see how the WMS boys’ team fairs this year and what they can do with a mostly new-faced roster in the 2025-2026 season.

Roster: Eli Hibdon, Cam Hayes,  Dominic Treuhaft, Josh Vincent, Jayden Behrendorff, Cooper Hice, Tanner Merritt, Jett Damron, Saiben Greenway, Reid Seabolt, Kingston Bunch, Javon Bitton, Jordan Bunn, Aaron Pogue, Issac Bitton, and Braxton Alexander

West girls

The girls had a bit of a down year, as they were eliminated early in the postseason by the East girls’ basketball team. They had some great talent on the roster and some bright spots throughout the season; they just could not put it all together in large stretches in games to secure wins. They will look to rebound this season and return to their past successes with a new calendar year of basketball in front of them.

Roster: Analeigh Spain, Aubrey Bunn, Ashleigh Johnson, Claire Hyden, Carley Sisk, Emilliana Staples, Camdyn Edwards, Maddox Liles, Mahliya Taylor, Jaylee Bennett, Hudson Johnson, Kynlee Sholey, Jozie Roberts, Clara Sullivan, Khaleesi Vergeson, Nyomi Conley, Raelynn Baker, Blakely Galigher, and Ryker Vann
