THS Volleyball sweeps sets with Moore County
The Tullahoma volleyball team picked up its sixth win of the season with a 3-0 win over Moore County. They won the sets 25-11, 26-24, and 25-19.
After six days of not playing, the Lady Wildcats came out ready to play against the Lady Raiders. One THS player was especially ready for the match, sophomore Avanley Metcalf, who arguably put forth her best game of the season. She had a team high 21 assists, a team-high 13 digs, and had a team-high 11 kills. She was simply doing it all on Wednesday night.
A couple of other players who had big impacts in the win were junior Madalin Lidstrom and senior Maggie Lynch. Lidstrom in the contest had one of her more aggro games of the season, tying sophomore Emily Bell for the third most kills for the ‘Cats with seven. Lynch did a little bit of everything, picking up five assists, 12 digs, and had the team’s second-highest kill total in the contest with eight kills. Tullahoma will need this same collective performance with multiple players contributing at a high-level against rival Coffee County, who they take on Sept 4. The Lady Red Raiders so far this season also have gotten off to one of their better starts in their program’s recent history, going 5-2 through their first seven games. Head coach of the Tullahoma Volleyball team, Daniel Lynch, said the following on what his team needs to do to pick up another win against CC.
“We’ve played it a little safe lately with our serves. We are going to have to be more aggressive with our serves. Defense continues to be solid; we will need to keep that up. But the key stat tonight will be attack errors. We will need to limit our mistakes and force them into errors by keeping them out of system.”
