Dr. Polly Parker tapped as Webb head of school

Webb’s 2025-26 academic year—the 156th year in its esteemed history—kicked off on Wednesday, Aug. 13, under the leadership of a new head of school, Dr. Polly A. Parker.

Earlier this year, The Webb School announced the appointment of Parker as its 14th and first-ever female head of school following an extensive national search. There are 39 students from Coffee County attending The Webb School.

Parker was unanimously recommended by Webb’s Head of School Search Committee and confirmed by a unanimous vote of the Board of Trustees, citing her extensive experience, collaborative vision and proven leadership in independent and boarding school education. Having previously served in executive roles at renowned institutions across the U.S. and Central America, including Escuela Americana (San Salvador, El Salvador), Chase Collegiate School (Waterbury, Conn.) and The Winston School (Dallas), Dr. Parker’s appointment reflects not only her distinguished track record but also her ability to unite global communities around student-centered innovation and institutional growth.

“Webb is in an exciting season filled with opportunity,” said Dr. Chase Spurlock, co-chair of the Search Committee. “We believe we’ve found the ideal leader in Dr. Polly Parker, someone who can build upon Webb’s unique legacy while leading the school boldly into the future.”

Parker holds a Ph.D. in Clinical and Educational Psychology from California Southern University, an MSW from the University of Maryland and a B.S. from Southern Connecticut State University. Her executive training includes programs at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Klingenstein Center at Columbia University’s Teachers College. Having officially assumed her role as Webb’s new head in July 2025, she ushers in a new and exciting era for the School, her leadership characterized by transparency, integrity and a deep commitment to providing mission-driven education.

“The Webb School has a storied legacy of academic excellence and character-based education,” said Parker. “I am deeply honored to serve as its first female head of school and to join a community so deeply rooted in purpose.”

In her opening day remarks before students, faculty and staff last week, Parker spoke of the moral compass that guides each of us not only through tough times but also in our daily lives.

“As you step into the new school year, remember your moral compass. It will guide you through the years, [and] when you act with integrity and honor your values, you inspire others to do the same,” she said.

Throughout her career, Parker has been recognized for creating dynamic school environments that integrate academic excellence with empathy and joy. As a licensed clinical social worker, executive coach and former president of the El Salvador Bilingual International Association, she brings a multifaceted approach to leadership, focusing on shared professional growth for faculty and staff, empowering every student to reach their full potential and ensuring the long-term sustainability of schools.

“She brings the vision, experience, and collaborative leadership needed to guide Webb with confidence and care,” added Farrar Vaughan, chair of the Board of Trustees.

“As The Webb School continues its mission of cultivating confident thinkers and compassionate citizens, Dr. Polly Parker’s appointment marks a powerful new chapter, one that honors the past while boldly shaping the future,” Webb School officials said. “In her first year, she aims to immerse herself in the life of the school and to build authentic relationships with students, faculty, families, alumni and the Middle Tennessee community.”
