Following the passing of long-time employee Dana Eggleston, the Tullahoma Utilities Authority Board of Directors officially established Dana Eggleston Day to honor his life, legacy and service to both the organization and the community.
At its July 29 meeting, the resolution to recognize and establish June 25, Eggleston’s birthday, as Dana Eggleston Day was presented to the board by TUA President Allen Potter. Potter said during his over three decade tenure, Eggleston brought “unmatched dedication, humility and steadiness” to both his work and his relationships.
“He was a valued team member, a mentor to many and a trusted friend across all departments,” Potter said.
He praised Eggleston for embodying the best in what it meant to be a public servant–always putting in the work, always putting others first and always doing it without seeking the spotlight.
“While his passing has left a lasting impact on our team, so had his legacy,” Potter said. “Establishing an annual day in his honor provides TUA with a meaningful way to reflect on that legacy, to celebrate the values Dana stood for and to continue fostering a culture of dedication and mutual respect.”
Potter then presented and read out the resolution to the board members. As he read the resolution, Potter stated that Eggleston began his career with TUA in 1994, where he served both the organization and the citizens of Tullahoma for 31 years.
“Dana was the embodiment of dedication, professionalism, and humility–earning the respect and admiration of coworkers, supervisors, and the community alike,” the resolution read. “Dana was a man of steady character and quiet leadership, whose work spoke for itself and whose presence brought calm, consistency, and care to every task, no matter how big or small.”
The resolution highlighted Eggleston’s contributions went far beyond the job, as he mentored younger employees, treated others with kindness and respect, and carried out his responsibilities with integrity and pride.
“Dana’s life and work left a permanent mark on TUA’s culture and team, reminding all of us that our mission is not just about providing utility services, but about showing up for one another and serving with heart,” Potter said. “The loss of Dana was deeply felt by his TUA family and the community he served so faithfully, and it is fitting that his legacy be honored and remembered in a way that reflects the values he lived out daily.”
The resolution concluded by stating that on June 25 going forward, TUA will take time to “reflect on Dana’s contributions, celebrate the example he set, and encourage all employees to carry forward the same spirit of dedication, humility, and service that Dana embodied throughout his career.”
After reading the resolution, the board unanimously approved the resolution, thus establishing June 25 as Dana Eggleston Day.
