There is a new leader of the pack in the Tullahoma Adult Baseball League, after the latest slate of games on Aug. 11. Here is a recap of two of the games played that night.

Reds vs Athletics

The Reds picked up a fairly convincing win over the Athletics, winning 10-5.

The Reds put the newest win on their resume with a big first inning. They scored a combined eight runs, with some of the damage coming from three extra-base hits. Cody Stephens hit a one RBI double, Chris Martin hit a one RBI double, and Clay Burnett hit a two-run home run. After the Reds took this massive 8-0 lead it was too much to overcome for the Athletics, even with them chipping away in the fifth inning, where they put up three runs. In this inning, the Athletics produced four hits, with Skyler Hood hitting a triple to start the frame off. Three singles followed, with Luke Hendrick and Josh Vaughn’s singles scoring in runs.

At the conclusion of the game, the Reds had three players who had two hits: Burnett, Tyler Wright, and Cody Stephens. After the game, they improved their record to 7-3 and are now third overall in the standings. The Athletics’ record dropped to 2-7, and they remain sixth in the standings

Stache vs Royals

The Stache grabbed the top spot overall in the league with a 16-0 win over the Royals.

Like the Reds, the Stache got after the scoring early. They generated at least three runs in each of the four innings played, including a six-run opening inning. In this frame, they got their production from a walk, an error, and six singles. Jax King, Brody Fernandez, and Noah Fann all had RBI singles in the inning. King and Fernandez scored in one run, and Fann scored in two runs. Overall, in the game, the Stache had five players with two or more hits. This was Logan Underhill, Taylor Walker, Dylan Ward, King, and Fernandez. Walker led the game with the most hits, with three.

The Stache got another great performance from their bullpen, picking up their second shutout win in three games. Ward was on the mound and pitched all four innings. He allowed just two hits and had six strikeouts.

The Stache sit at the top of the standings with a 7-3 record, while the Royals still reside in the fifth spot with a 4-5 record.
