Seniors in the spotlight: The Bobo Brothers
GRAY DEYOSports Writer
Two starters on the boys’ basketball team that made it to state, Sam Bobo and Alex Bobo, are both poised to have big years in their last year of hoops for Tullahoma.
The Bobo brothers are a coach’s dream. They play defense, they take good shots, and they are completely fine with playing a role. That last trait of the brothers is hard to find with basketball players, especially at the high school level. Everyone wants to take the big shot, but who wants to make the extra pass to the guy who takes that shot?
The Bobos do.
Last year’s team was not going to be as successful as they were if the Bobos and many others on the team did not share this mindset. Going into the 2025-2026 season, however, the two, like many of the other returning teammates, will be asked to do more, and they showed they have the talent to step up and provide that.
Alex’s main skill is his playmaking ability. He can find his teammates at a high level and create space off the dribble. These skills were integral in postseason play.
Going into next season, Alex will likely be asked to bring the ball up the court and playmake more, with the departure of senior guards Xavier Farrell and Khani Johnson.
For Sam, he is a great cutter as well as a 3-point shooter. With his speed, he has no problem getting past defenders to score. And when he gets to the basket, he has a feathery touch to capitalize on his opportunities. Next year, the main thing that he will have the chance to do more is raise his volume of threes. He has a great shot from behind the arc, but he shot a limited number of shots from distance last season. This year, with more offensive firepower needed, he will have a chance to take more of these shots. This, paired with his already well-proven cutting game, will make him even more of a dynamic player.
As for the defensive end for the brothers, not much should change. They are two of the better defenders on the team, and this is a feat that will keep them both on the floor no matter what.
