Bradford in court for high speed chase

A Manchester man is facing multiple charges after he led lawmen on a high speed chase which ended when deputies deployed spike strips to end the pursuit.
The suspect, Joey Wayne Bradford, 46, will face a preliminary hearing on June 23 on charges of reckless endangerment – no weapon involved, evading arrest, resisting arrest, two counts of assault on a first responder, tampering with evidence, vandalism (up to $1,000), reckless driving, speeding, not having proof of insurance, and display of registration plates.
The incident for which he is being prosecuted happened this past April after a Coffee County deputy saw him allegedly speeding, doing 72 in a 45 mph zone. The officer said Bradford accelerated down Old Woodbury Highway and drove into the path of an oncoming vehicle, causing it to swerve off the road to avoid a head-on collision. During the pursuit the officer saw the suspect throw a sandwich bag containing a white substance out his window. The suspect then drove through a yard and took out a mailbox.
Spike strips were deployed at the Gowan Road intersection but the suspect reportedly took aim at the deputy with his vehicle and was crashed out by pursuing units. Bradford reportedly resisted being pulled from his crashed vehicle, hitting one of the deputies with an elbow during the skirmish.
Deputies reported finding a meth bong inside the vehicle, noting Bradford was also driving without insurance and had the wrong tag displayed on his Jeep.
