Mary Jane Bradley Flowers Obituary
Mary Jane Bradley Flowers passed from this life on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, at Erlanger Hospital, Chattanooga.
Mary Jane was born on May 13, 1974, to Mary Alice & Tim Bradley in Atwater, California at Castle Air Force Base. They welcomed brother Clay in the fall of 1975 at Fairchild Air Force Base, in Spokane, Washington. In 1976 the family left the Air Force and relocated to Lebanon, Tennessee where they lived while her father pursued a career in aviation. Employment with American Airlines brought about a move to Denton, Texas where Mary Jane celebrated her 15th birthday. After a few years in Texas, the pull of the west moved the family to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. While living in Jackson Hole, Mary Jane developed a love of the outdoors and pursued many activities. She particularly enjoyed skiing, tennis, camping, and hiking. Mary Jane graduated from Jackson Hole high school in 1992 and moved across the country to attend Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia. During her years at Sweet Briar, she continued to enjoy the outdoors and worked for the Wintergreen Ski Resort.
Following graduation Mary Jane began her teaching career in Prescott, Arizona then onto Rivermont Elementary in Chattanooga. Mary Jane then left education and began working for the Hutton Development Company in Chattanooga. During this time Mary Jane met William Flowers. They were married June 7, 2008, at Morton Memorial Methodist Church in Monteagle, Tennessee. In August 2009 their daughter Mary Katherine was born, and their son Robert Earl was born in April 2011. Once their family was established Mary Jane worked first at IvyWild restaurant in Sewanee and later joined her husband’s company Flowers Construction. Mary Jane’s creative talent and eye for detail guided their clients in building their dream homes. When her children began attending Chattanooga Christian School, Mary Jane took a position with Cole construction. Whatever sport the children were participating in Mary Jane was the ultimate “team Mom” and cheerleader. She will be remembered by many softball players and their families for her Sunday morning “Church in the dirt” devotional through which she shared her love of the Lord in the dugout.
Mary Jane’s favorite Bible verse is Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before others, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father, which is in heaven.” May Mary Jane’s light shine forever.
