Coffee County’s football proposal rejected

The TSSAA recently announced new football regions, which revealed Tullahoma’s long-time rival was on the move. Coffee County was set to head to Region 6-6A along with a team in the Wildcats’ region (Region 5-5A) for the last two years—Shelbyville.
Coffee County filed a proposal to not join Region 6-6A, with the likes of Independence, Brentwood, Ravenwood, Franklin, Shelbyville, and Summit High School, and instead join Region 4-6A, with Spring Hill, Mt. Juliet, Gallatin, Cookeville, Wilson, and Lebanon High School. A spot was left over in that region after Warren County opted out of a regional schedule. Prior to their change of region this year they had formerly been stuck in one of the state’s toughest regions which included the likes of Oakland, Riverdale and Blackman.
On Nov. 25, the TSSAA released region schedules for all schools, showing that the Red Raiders proposal was unsuccessful, with all the before-mentioned 6-6a teams being printed on their schedules. The TSSAA also released the minutes of its last meeting revealing Coffee County’s appeal had been denied.
As for Tullahoma other than the loss of the Eagles in their region, it looks to be business as usual. The four teams slotted in on their schedules for the next two years are teams that were all present in the region last year—Lincoln County, Franklin County, Columbia Central, and Lawrence County High School.
