County eyes giving longevity pay

J

The Coffee County Budget and Finance Committee recommended to the full commission a plan for longevity pay for employees who have over five years tenure.

Commissioner Tim Stubblefield said the pay could give employees a small incentive that might prevent them from leaving.

“Sometimes it takes just a little bit of nudging to get that person to stay on,” Stubblefield said.

The pay allocates $176,889 that will be based on longevity to 163 of the county’s roughly 325 employees.

The motion passed unanimous with discussion by Commissioner Tim Brown who advocated for more money to be given.
