Tullahoma opens region play with win

The Wildcats went to Winchester and picked up a 48-10 victory against the rival Rebels.
Tullahoma scored on all three phases of the game. The big special teams score was a blocked punt recovered in the end zone for a touchdown. The defense scored in the third quarter when Sam Bobo picked up the fumble and ran it back.
Franklin County started the game with the ball and opened their first drive with a halfback pass that gained 28 yards. The next play was a handoff for a gain of 3 into Tullahoma territory. The quarterback ran for a gain of 2 after picking up a bad snap. The bubble screen on third down was incomplete. The punt was nearly blocked by Will Hyden, it was downed at the Wildcats 28. A toss right lost 1 and a holding flag made it first and 20. A screen left to Khani Johnson gained 3. The shot pass left to him was incomplete, the wind pushed the ball out of bounds. The screen left to Alex Bobo was incomplete. S. Bobo’s punt rolled to the Franklin County 40 where it was fallen on. They took a shot on first down, but the pass was intercepted by S. Bobo, the ball floated and died in air because of the wind. Tullahoma took over at their own 39. Marvancy Johnson carried the ball to the Franklin County 48. M. Johnson bounced a run right and got 10 yards. A zone run left got it to the 32. M. Johnson got it again going left, he stiff armed the first defender and made it to the 31. The hard count by Lucas Reed drew an offside flag resulting in the first down. Reed rolled right and threw toward K. Johnson in the end zone, but it was incomplete. He hit A. Bobo across the middle for the 26-yard touchdown. Chase Dodson’s extra point kick was good. Tullahoma led 7-0 with 5:33 left in the first quarter.
The kickoff was returned to the 25. A jet touch pass left lost 2, Bronson Bunch made the tackle. The second down run lost 1, Creed Adams made the stop. An Illegal motion on the Rebels made it third and 18. The roll out right pass was incomplete. The punter had trouble with the snap and was obliterated by Hyden. He fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Wildcats in the end zone for 6. The extra point was good making it 14-0 with 4:08 left. On the first third down of the next drive, Franklin County threw the ball to the right, the ball went through one receiver’s hands and landed in another’s pair of hands. He got the ball to the 49. A jet touch pass left lost 2. Bronson Bunch blew up a swing screen for a loss of 3. The quarterback rolled left and took off, Sylas McGowen chased him down and made the tackle after a 3-yard gain to end the quarter.
After the punt, Tullahoma started at their own 10. A screen right to Hyden picked up 6. The pass down the right sideline after a fake screen to K. Johnson was incomplete. The third down pass left to K. Johnson went for no gain. The punt was returned to the Tullahoma 45. Hyden hit the running back in the backfield for a loss of 3. Thomas Anderson stopped the next run for gain of 1. A flag on Tullahoma made it first down at the Tullahoma 31. After a false start Robert Brooks stopped the run for a minimal gain. The pass right was caught at the 25. The next pass was incomplete Aiden Kelley was in coverage. The 42-yard field goal was good, making it 14-3 with 7:29 left in the half. M. Johnson opened the next drive with a carry up the middle that lost 1. The jet touch pass to K. Johnson gained 5. A pass down the left sideline to A. A false start made it second and 15 at the Franklin County 32. M. Johnson got a carry for a gain of 4. Another flag backed it up to the 44. Reed was pressured, rolled out right and threw but the pass was incomplete. S. Bobo’s punt was returned to the 19, Gunner Green made the tackle. Brooks and Hyden made a tackle for a loss of 1. Hyden made another tackle for no gain. The third down pass was incomplete. The punt was returned to the Rebels 33 by K. Johnson. A late hit on Franklin County moves it to the 18. M. Johnson gained 3 on the first play, got it again made a defender miss and picked up 5. Reed faked the handoff to M. Johnson and threw to A. Bobo at the goal like for the touchdown. The kick was no good, the Wildcats led 20-3 with 2:17 left in the half. Tullahoma forced a fumble and recovered it at the 28. Reed rolled right away from pressure, evaded one sack and got brought down but it was by his facemask. The flag moved it to the 14 for a first down. The next pass was incomplete, then a screen went for a touchdown, but a block in the back negated the score. Reed kept it on a read option and got it to the 15. Reed threw a swing screen to M. Johnson, he avoided two tackles and got to the 1. He got a carry up the middle and was stopped inside the 1. Tullahoma called a timeout with 21 seconds left. M. Johnson got another carry, he was wrapped up short of the goal line, but stretched the ball across the goal line for the score. The kick was good making it 27-3 with 16 seconds left in half.
M. Johnson returned the second half kickoff to the Franklin county 40. On second down he ran for a gain of 10. Reed pulled the ball on a read-pass-option and threw it to K. Johnson who took it to the house. An illegal man downfield penalty brought it back. Reed was sacked at the 39. An incomplete pass and loss of 2 brought out the punt unit. There was a bad snap on the punt, S. Bobo picked it up and ran. He reversed field twice and made it all the way to the end zone, but a crack back block negated it. He punted on the next play to the 23, the return gained 1 A. Bobo made the tackle. A pass interference penalty extended the Rebels drive. Then a handful of successful passing plays got Franklin County into the end zone for their second touchdown of the season. The point after was good, Tullahoma still ahead 27-10 with 3:47 left in the third.
K. Johnson returned the kickoff to the Franklin County 43. A swing pass left to M. Johnson was not completed, the play was whistled dead as an incomplete pass. The officials gathered and talked about the call, overturned as a fumble and recovery by the Rebels at the 50, then went back and gave Tullahoma the ball ruling the play as an inadvertent whistle prior to recovery. After an incomplete pass, M. Johnson rans left and got a flag thrown for hurdling a defender. Reed threw deep to K. Johnson but it was incomplete. A swing screen right to M. Johnson gained 10. S. Bobo’s punt landed at the 2 and bounced over as Green grabbed it for a touchback. A handoff was fumbled and Tullahoma fell on it at the 14. Devlin Wilson jumped on the ball. M. Johnson got a handoff and made multiple guys miss before sprinting into the end zone. The extra point kick is good making it 34-10 with 1:16 to go in the third. The first play on Franklin County’s drive was a run right. There was a fumble, S. Bobo picked it up and returned the distance for a touchdown. The kick as good, score now at 41-10 with 1:04 left in the quarter.
Two plays into the fourth quarter Julian Cole intercepted a pass and returned to the 15. Jakoby Hill got a carry up the middle for a gain of 1. He got it again, no gain but a flag for unnecessary roughness moved the ball to the 8 and made it third and 3. Hill got it again and scored the 8-yard touchdown. The kick was good, making it 48-10 with 7:39 left and starting a running clock. Logan Brewer picked up a sack at the 22. A jet sweep to Green gained 7. A handoff to Dominick Harris picked up 6. He got it again and gained 4. Time expired and Tullahoma won 48-10.
The Wildcats are now 2-2 and 1-0 in Region. They won their last two and look to make it three in a row when Lincoln County comes to town Friday.
