Elderly man bound on child rape charge

An elderly Manchester man has been bound to the grand jury on the charge of child rape.

The defendant, Darrell Floyd, 75, has been charged with the Class A Felony, which carries 15 to 25 years in prison without chance of parole, for the contact that happened between May 2014 and May 2016. The child, who was over the age of 8, allegedly reported the incidents in 2016; however, for unknown reasons, Floyd was not charged with the crime until he allegedly admitted it on an audio recording in May of this year.

The warrant noted that the incident involving the little girl resurfaced as it related to another case recently reported.

Floyd will now wait for the decision of the grand jury. If indicted, he will be set for plea or trial in circuit court.
