Woman swings from the rafters after police chase
A woman was left hanging from the ceiling after she allegedly ran from the law and then tried to hide out in a house as police looked for her.
The suspect, Brittany Faith Ortt, 31, is charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia for a discovery made after she was taken into custody.
According to Tullahoma Police reports, lawmen tried to pull her over in a Kia Sportage for a license tag violation. However, she reportedly kept driving despite the blue lights in her rear view at Hogan and Country Club. The chase continued onto Hogan but was terminated on North College as police knew who owned the car.
They then went to the East Moore Street residence where the vehicle was register and learned the suspect had allegedly ran inside the house.
“Police were advised that Ms. Ortt was the driver … and was hiding from police in the middle closet of the home,” the report revealed. “While searching for Ms. Ortt I heard a loud crash in the front bedroom,” the officer reported. “Ms. Ortt had fallen through the ceiling and was hanging on a beam.”
She complied with police when they told her to come down from the beam. She was then asked why she did not stop for lawmen and she reportedly replied that she did not have insurance.
“She was apologetic for running,” police reported, noting that a warrant check revealed she had two outstanding warrants for driving on a suspended license.
She caught drug charges when police found alleged meth and paraphernalia in her fanny pack.
