Tullahoma wins in Fayetteville

The Tullahoma High School Wildcats soccer team went to Fayetteville Friday and came away with a 4-0 win.

The win ended the two game skid the ‘Cats were on. Chase Banks assisted Asa Smith for one of the goals. Smith headed the ball in. Smith assisted Omar Garcia for a goal. Luke Ellis scored with an assist from Jude Smith. Charlie Dodson sent a cross to Juan Astello for the last Wildcats goal.

The result moved the team’s record to 5-5-2. Franklin County’s 4-1 win over Lawrence County secured Tullahoma’s third place finish in district. 

Monday night the ‘Cats were in Manchester for the Coffee Cup. The game was tied 1-1 after full time, but Tullahoma fell in a shootout 4-2. The Wildcats went down 1-0 in the first half after the Red Raiders scored on a direct kick. Tullahoma fought until the end, scoring the tying goal in the 79th minute. The ball was sent into the box and Jude Smith took the goalkeepers attention so Kirk Tipps could put the ball into the net tying the game.

In the shootout goalkeeper Daniel Eldridge got his hands on the first three shots from Coffee County. The first shot deflected up from his hand into the crossbar and he was able to recover and grab the ball keeping it from crossing the line. Eldridge and the rest of the Wildcat team gave a tremendous effort, showing a lot of determination and fight.

Tullahoma ends the regular season with a 5-5-3 record. They will host Marshall County in the first round of the district playoffs on Friday at 7 p.m.
