Tims Ford hosts Spring Fling March 30
Tims Ford State Park will be hosting its annual Spring Fling Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The state park has a wide variety of activities planned including a craft fair, food vendors and live music by the Random Rebels.
A detailed summary of the events is below:
• 10 a.m. – Pontoon Lake Tour: Meet a Seasonal Interpreter at Lakeview Marina in the park for an hour-long scenic boat tour of Tims Ford! Price is $15 per person; be sure to bring a camera!
• 10 a.m. – Explore Tims Ford’s Past. Join Kay for a guided tour at the Nature Center where guests will be able to learn about the rich history of Tims Ford State Park.
• 10:30 a.m. – Tree Cookie Name Tag Art Session: Stop by the Nature Center and make your very own tree cookie name tag! You will learn about the significance of tree cookies while you are there!
• 11 a.m. – Meet J.D. Walking around the Spring Fling. Keep an eye out for our barred owl, J.D. who will be with SIR Alex as he walks around the event! Ask questions to learn more about Tennessee’s native raptors.
• 11 a.m. – Bluebirds Seminar: Reeda Best from Crimson Clover Master Gardeners is speaking about bluebirds at Tims Ford State Park in Spencer Hall.
• 11:30 a.m. – Marsupial Madness: Join Beth in the Nature Center for Storytime, craft, and some fascinating information about native marsupial- the Virginia Opossum.
• 12 p.m. – Cottontail Trail: Bring your basket and take a short hike with your child along the park’s Clifton Doyle Trail while they Hunt Easter Eggs that have been placed out along and near the trail.
• 1pm – Reptile Roundup: Join Beth in the Nature Center to meet some radical reptiles! Come learn about the snakes, lizards, and turtles that call Tennessee Home.
• 1 p.m. – Tomahawk Throwing: learn the history of tomahawks as well as learning the techniques of throwing them down by Spencer Hall. Children need to be at least 8 to attempt this.
• 1:30 p.m. – Cottontail Trail: Round (2) of a short hike along the park’s Clifton Doyle Trail while your child hunts Easter Eggs that have been placed out along and near the trail.
• 2 p.m. – Pontoon Lake Tour: Meet a Seasonal Interpreter at Lakeview Marina in the park for an hour-long scenic boat tour of Tims Ford. Price is $15 per person; be sure to bring a camera!
• 2:30 p.m. – Hoppy Hour!: Join Kay and Lyndi Bean of Bean Acre Farms at the Nature Center to learn about Tennessee native rabbits, learn to do the bunny hop dance, and pet live bunnies!
• 3 p.m. – Birds of Prey: Join us at the Aviaries outside the Nature Center for a program on our Birds of Prey.
• 4 p.m. –Watercolors in the Park: Join Beth outside of the Nature Center and dive into the world of watercolors amidst the tranquil beauty of the park!
• 6:30 p.m. – Sunset Pontoon Tour: Join us at the Lakeview Marina where we will take you on an hour-long sunset boat tour of Tims Ford State Park while watching the sunset! Price is $20 per adult/ $15 per child.
