Woman charged with stealing from employer

A local woman has been charged for stealing from her employer after Manchester police say she took money from the office on at least five different occasions and changed the books to cover her alleged crime.

The woman, Christina Lynn Meacham is charged with theft of property. Her charges come after investigators with the Manchester Police Department conducted a probe into funds that came up missing at Manchester-area business.

“There were multiple dates money was taken from the business and the paperwork was manipulated in attempts to hide the theft,” said MPD Investigator Jamie Norris in the warrant against Meacham, noting the dates of the thefts ranged from September to October of 2023.

Investigator Norris explained that the suspect would receive a monetary payment from a customer and set the money to the side.

“She would take the money out of the camera view and when she returned, she would no longer have the money,” the investigator alleges.

The investigation reportedly showed the suspect would try to cover her tracks by making false entries into the company computer system.

“She would use the software login to change the amounts to cover the theft,” Norris explained, noting there is documentation that will be brought into evidence if the case goes to trial.

The investigator added that there could be more counts lodged against Meacham. She is set to appear in General Sessions Court on Feb. 1 to answer the charges.
