Middle Tennessee columnist publishes 25th anniversary book

Danny Tyree, whose “Tyrades!” column returned to the opinion page of the Tullahoma News this summer, recently celebrated his 25th anniversary of writing a humor column every week without a single break.

His book “Tyree’s Tyrades!: 25 Years of Love and Laughter” is available in paperback and Kindle ebook editions from Amazon. It features 75 of his favorite essays from the past quarter-century, including family anecdotes, pop culture milestones and tongue-in-cheek observations on the Human Condition.

Tyree started out distributing the column to the Pulaski Citizen, followed by the Tullahoma News and a succession of other Middle Tennessee newspapers. In December of 2010 Tyrades! was picked up for national syndication by Cagle Cartoons of Santa Barbara, California. It currently appears in approximately 200 newspapers.

The author is a lifelong resident of Marshall County and has been an employee of the Lewisburg location of United Farm & Home Co-op since a few months after launching “Tyrades!” He is a 1982 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, where he majored in Mass Communications. He wrote a column for the Comics Buyer’s Guide hobby magazine from 1983-2000.

His wife Melissa is a biology teacher in the Columbia State Community College system. Their son Gideon is a senior at MTSU, majoring in engineering.

“Tyree’s Tyrades!: 25 Years of Love and Laughter” is Tyree’s third self-published book. “Yes, Your Butt Still Belongs inChurch” (2020) and “Why Pro Life” (2022) are also available from Amazon.
