Local Republicans gather for annual GOP picnic

The Coffee County Republican Party held their annual picnic at Frasier McEwin Park on July 29.

Congressman Scott DesJarlais, State Senator Janice Bowling, State Rep Rush Bricken and State TnGOP Chairman Scott Golden addressed the crowd of 60.

Area Republicans were briefed on the status of key legislation in D.C. and Nashville.  The Governor’s special session on public safety, scheduled for August 21, was discussed.  Scott Golden highlighted the recent change allowing School Board members to declare party, thus allowing county parties and citizens to screen potential candidates in advance of elections.

“A good time was had by all on a warm beautiful Tennessee Saturday,” said Coffee County Republican Party Chairman Greg Sandlin.
