Archibald “Archie” Collins

Archibald ‘Archie’ Woods Collins IV, age 80 of Belvidere, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026. He was born on October 3, 1945, to the late A.W. and Louise Hinkle Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Jean Bailey; brother, Bobby Collins and great-grandson Henry Wiseman.

Before he retired, Archie worked for the State of Tennessee Department of Agriculture. The only thing he enjoyed more than being outside was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had many fun hobbies over the course of his life, but the three mainstays were honeybees, bullets and billiards. When he wasn’t outside hiking, kayaking or tending to his hives, he was usually in his basement shooting pool and listening to music. Archie was the family comedian and the only thing he enjoyed more than making others laugh was laughing at his own jokes. He never took himself too seriously, which eased all who had the pleasure of being around him. Archie was a kind and humble servant of Christ and an example to us all of what it meant to have a quiet spirit.

Archie is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rita Laten Collins; children Heather Tant and Clint (Lauren) Collins; grandchildren, Kathryn (Ronnie) Wiseman, Aidan O’Neil, Alayna Tant, Grace O’Neil, Cooper Collins and Ava O’Neil; and sister Sherry (Dennis) Horn.

Visitation will be at Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Tennessee on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 1-3 pm with the funeral beginning at 3 pm.
