Brain can’t think

I sat down with my computer and a cup of coffee to write this week’s article, but before I started, I asked my four-year old what Mama’s “topic” should be. Of course I was only teasing, but I did want to see what God may place on his little heart. He pondered and pondered, asked me questions and even tried to divert my question to his older sister but eventually he said “Mama, my brain can’t think.”

Oh, how I have been in that place recently – a season of overstimulation and haste that caused my thought process to simply vacate. Have you ever felt like you have lost your spark when it comes to creativity, ingenuity, recollection and resourcefulness? I have recently had two separate conversations with other women who disclosed how distant they feel from God right now. It was a beautiful time to remind them both that no distance will separate them from our Father and the way back home mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually is not has far as it may seem. “ Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:39. How can we overcome the separation that has entered our brains causing the disconnect and distance?

Be honest. Being honest with yourself and God is imperative to receiving the full embodiment of Christ in our daily walk. We must admit that we have not spent time in the Word, prayer and even through worship which leads to a healthy relationship with the Father.

Repentance will follow. Ask God to forgive you of your shortcomings and start fresh again. This act of obedience will cause the feeling of heaviness to lift and will often give us the courage to walk forward again.

Action. The most sacred way for me to tune into the spiritual realm is to bring Heaven to earth through action. Whether it is through serving, giving or tithing – your action is key to reactivate your brain, body and soul to be Kingdom driven.

Prayer and Stillness. There has never been a time that God has not met me in prayer and stillness. Acknowledging that we all must prioritize prayer and time spent with the Lord is a fundamental step in growing a relationship.

The most beautiful word I could use to encourage these women (and myself) comes from the absolute truth that even when we feel distant, God is unconditionally, unequivocally and unquestionably near. I pray this week you have the steadfastness to seek God in your daily walk – may your brain fog lift and may all the joy of His love fill every facet of your life.

“And the LORD, He it is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 13:8.
