Families are invited to dive into the fascinating world of marine biology during an exciting, hands-on Family Squid Dissection at the Hands-On Science Center. Designed for curious learners of all ages, this unique experience combines an interactive lesson with the opportunity to explore the anatomy and adaptations of real ocean life.

The program will begin in the Hands-On Science Center auditorium with an engaging marine biology lesson. Participants will discover how ocean animals are uniquely adapted to survive beneath the surface while learning about the structures and features that make marine life so fascinating.

Then, it’s time to put on the gloves and become marine biologists!

During the guided squid dissection, each family will work together to examine a squid up close, exploring its organs, structures, and specialized features. The experience provides a memorable opportunity for children and adults to see firsthand how the anatomy of a squid helps it survive in its underwater environment.

“Science is at its best when you can see it, touch it, and explore it for yourself,” said Austin Sisco, Executive Director of the Hands-On Science Center. “This program gives families the chance to learn together while experiencing the fascinating world of marine biology in a fun and memorable way.”

The Family Squid Dissection is perfect for curious kids, homeschool families, and anyone who is ready to get a little messy in the name of science. No previous science experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity!

The Family Squid Dissection will take place on Oct. 10 and 17 at the Hands-On Science Center’s campus, located at 101 Mitchell Blvd. The cost is $50 per family and space is limited. To register for either day, click here.
