Optical Illusion

According to the Oxford Dictionary, an optical illusion is something that deceives the eye by appearing to be other than it is.

Have you ever seen someone or something for other than what he/she/it truly was? Halloween is one of those holidays that I have never been excited to celebrate. I do enjoy seeing my children having fun and getting to dress up, but the dark side of the holiday has never sat well with my spirit. As I was preparing this article the Sunday before Halloween, I felt as though now more than ever this season is such a great opportunity for darkness to dwell in the shadows of this this day.

Our children are exposed to such evil through television, social media and the internet at every single turn. Are we as parents doing all we can to protect their little hearts and souls from what could seem innocent and child like? Friend, there are optical illusions all around! “ For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Ephesians 6:12. There has never been a more important time in history than now for us to pray and receive discernment. Do you truly know who that person is? Do you truly know that you are supposed to go there? Do you truly know that decision is the right one? Discernment is a gift from God that you must seek and ask of Him. When you practice discernment, you can see passed the optical illusions of this ugly world and become aware of absolute truth.

Something happened to me on my journey that I may share one day through my testimony, but for now I will say that I was a witness firsthand to this darkness through the eyes of another person. It was a very scary moment for me, but I did not stay in fear. It was a moment that I will remember all my life, but I will not back down. It was a moment that could have changed the trajectory of what God has called of me, but through my spiritual eyes I saw it for exactly what it was. A manifested spiritual attack on my anointing. Did I really see what I just saw? Am I making a big deal out of nothing? Those were the questions I had for myself after the incident, but I can confidently say I was not fooled by this optical illusion. My discernment did not fail me nor did my God.

I was not a victim to the enemy’s schemes and although he would have loved to strike my soul with fear, it did not prevail! “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.”

54:17. Although we want to believe that everyone has the best intentions, you must remember that the enemy uses others to rage his evil war. It is not time to live with our eyes wide shut. It is time for you and I to live with eyes wide open, armor on, weapons drawn and a tongue that dares to speak truth. In a time with front row seats to fake lives, fake personalities, fake accounts, fake relationships, fake marriages, fake success and even fake religion you must always be spiritually aware.

The devil is not an unseen character; he makes himself known through the atmosphere over regions and even in the lives of others who allow it. It is time we stop sugar coating the evil that roams to and fro and start staring it in the eyes and sending it back to where it belongs! If you have felt this atmospheric shift, you are not alone. You are not mistaken. You are a child of God and those optical illusions can no longer fool you…. Hallelujah!

“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” Matthew 6:22
