TMS baseball celebrates 8th-grade night

The Tullahoma Middle School baseball team recently played its last regular-season game of the 2026 season, against rival Coffee County Middle School. Before defeating Coffee Co. by a score of 115, the Wildcats acknowledged all of their 8th graders before the game.
It could not have been a better day to have 8thgrade night for the Wildcats. It was sunny outside with clear skies, and the Wildcats got the win over their rival. The group of Tullahoma’s eight 8th graders are the following players: Haiden Brinkley, Avery Hodges, Jett Damron, Macc Chapin, Preston Smith, Charlie Nichols, Marvaden Johsnon, and Strykr Sons. All of the 8th graders, before the start of the game, hit a pitch thrown to them from their dads and then walked with their family and people close to them to the pitcher’s mound to pose for a picture.
The hard work they put into the Wildcats’ baseball program shined through in the matchup against Coffee County, as they logged their fourth-highest run total of the season with 11 runs. Tullahoma had its best stretch of offense in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings, where they scored seven of their 11 runs.
In the fifth, the Wildcats scored three runs coming via an error, a bases-loaded walk from Nichols, and a ground ball RBI from 7th grader Kingston Bunch. In the sixth, the Wildcats scored four runs, with the bulk of their scoring coming from three consecutive RBI hits. The three hits came from 7th grader Colson Ray, Brinkley, and 7th grader Aaron Pogue. Both Ray and Poque hits were singles, while Brinkley’s RBI knock was a double struck on a line drive to left field. All of their hits scored in one run.
Wrapping up the four runs scored in the frame for Tullahoma, Nichols logged another RBI with a fielder’s choice ball hit to Coffee County’s shortstop.
The top three offensive performers for Tullahoma against the opposing Red Raiders were Chapin, Brinkley, and Ray. Chapin was consistently effective in his plate appearances. He went 2-3 and drew two walks. Brinkley also went 2-3 and had a game-high three RBIs. Colson Ray was the lone other Wildcat in the contest who had two hits, as he also went 2-3 from the plate. The top defensive performer for TMS was Damron. He pitched a total of two innings and did not allow a single hit. He faced seven Coffee County batters in the pair of frames and struck out four of them.
With the win over the Red Raiders, the Wildcats closed out their 2026 season with an overall record of 9-6. Tullahoma will look to carry the momentum of a two-game win streak, both victories over CCMS, into the postseason.
