Law firm hired for airport

Thompson Burton PLLC has been retained as aviation council for the Tullahoma Airport. Interim Assistant Airport Manager Gavin Dishon revealed the airport authority and Interim City Administrator Jeff Damron rated each of the applicants that applied for the council position and they unanimously agreed on Thompson Burton.
“They are the best price for our proposal and they have the most knowledge of Tennessee state law,” he told the board of mayor and aldermen.
City Attorney Stephen Worsham said a member of the council from the firm has connections to Tullahoma. “She passionate about our town as well as passionate about the airport,” Worsham told the board. “She and her firm are highly qualified.”
Tullahoma Airport Authority will be contracting with the firm but the city of Tullahoma will be paying the bill. The budget request to hire the firm is up to $50K.
“We’re think that ($50K) is the ceiling,” said Damron, noting the pay is $420 an hour to take a look at the 73 airport leases. Leases at the airport is the key reason for the hiring of the firm as the authority looks beef up its policies on collecting rent from those leases.
