2025 THS softball star helps lead collegiate team to historic season
2 025 Tullahoma graduate and member of the THS softball team, Maddie Goad, has had an outstanding first season of collegiate softball at Volunteer State Community College. She and the rest of her Lady Pioneer teammates set the record for most program wins in a single season in their school’s history.
Goad and her Lady Pioneers team have an overall record of 51-14 and are a couple of steps away from achieving the ultimate accomplishment in JUCO softball: an NJCAA Title. The Lady Patriots are set to play in the second round of the NJCAA DI Softball World Series on May 25. Goad has been highlighted as one of the key players in her team’s successful season, and for good reason. She is putting up box score-breaking numbers just as she did during her time at THS.
Goad, in her senior season for the Tullahoma softball team, had the most RBIs on the team (77), most home runs (22), and also had the highest batting average (0.571). Her dominant season helped THS to win 20 games, and she was also named the district’s MVP. Along with her fellow 2025 graduate, Kylee Holt, Goad was also named to the 3A All-State Team by the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association.
“Her athleticism and work ethic. When your best player is your hardest worker, you’ve really got something special,” said Head Coach of the Tullahoma softball team, Gary Barfield, regarding what stood out about Goad that he believes made her such an elite player during her time at THS.
Goad with the Lady Pioneers has a .385 batting average, 15 HRS, and has the most RBIs on her team with 73. One of her best games of the year came against Motlow State Community College. Against the college located closest to her former high school, Goad went 3-3 from the plate with two of her hits being HRs.
With the big individual season for Goad, she was selected to the First Team All-Conference.
The Lady Pioneers College World Series Matchup on Monday, May 25, is their first appearance in the NJCAA DI World Series since 2011. In the second round, they will take on Seminole State College from Oklahoma. If they were to win the following matchup, they would then be four steps away from bringing home a national title. It would be the first time in Volunteer State’s school history to win said championship.
