Beer sting catches 11 FC businesses
Seven Winchester businesses and four others in Franklin County jurisdiction have recently faced citations for selling beer to a minor during two separate sting operations.
The Winchester Police Department conducted a sting on June 9 with seven of 27 establishments recording beer sales violations.
Winchester businesses receiving citations include:
— Filo’s Tavern, first offense, $1,000 fine.
— Piezan, first offense, $1,000.
— Creekside Market, first offense, $1,000.
— Twice Daily, second offense, $1,500.
— Buddy’s Market, second offense, $1,500.
— Davis Market, third offense, $2,500.
— Rafael’s, second offense, $1,500.
In addition to the establishments being cited for beer sales violations by the Winchester and Franklin County Beer Boards, those who hands-on sold the beer to a minor are subject individual fines and court costs.
The Sheriff’s Office also conducted a sting operation on June 23 with three citations issued, plus another one pending for Decherd Market which had to reschedule its July 11 hearing to a later date.
The following citations were issued:
— S&J Market, second offense, $2,500 fine.
— BlueBird Market, first offense, $1,000.
— Bait, Beer and Biscuit, second offense, $2,500.
