The front entrance of the Tullahoma City Schools (TCS) Central Office will be seeing an upgrade thanks to the approval of the Board of Education.
During the TCS Board of Education meeting on Tue, Sept. 19, TCS Director of Business Hank Jordan presented the item of upgrades to the front entrance of the Central Office to the school board members.
According to Jordan, upgrades and modifications to the front entrance of the Central Office has been a topic of discussion and has been recommended by the school board’s Building and Grounds Committee for some time.
“The proposed project includes adding two ADA-accessible ramps (one for each parking lot) to the front entrance and extending a sidewalk from the north parking lot to the rear entrance,” Jordan said. “The bids included adding black powder-coated steel handrails in place of the aluminum rails currently in use.”
Jordan said with the guidance from OLG Engineering, specifications and plans were created, an invitation to bid was distributed to the public in August and two sealed bids were received at the end of August by deadline. A bid from Curl Construction was received to complete the work at the total cost of $86,650.
“After reviewing the bid with OLG Engineering and informing the Finance Committee, we are recommending accepting Curl Construction’s bid and proceeding with this project with Curl Construction in the amount of $86,650,” Jordan said to the board.
After the motion was moved for approval, the school board voted unanimously 6-0 to approve the bid. School Board member Andy Whitt was absent.
