Tullahoma fire crews quickly responded to a fire at East Gate Apartments early Tuesday morning, which left several families displaced.

At around 5:52 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, the Tullahoma Fire Department was dispatched to the East Gate Apartments to respond to a fire.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Jasen Damron, the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. He added that four families were displaced due to the fire–a total of 17 people.

“One apartment sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage,” said Damron.

Three other apartments sustained only smoke damage, and the American Red Cross arrived at around 8 a.m. to assist the families, according to Damron.

Damron said the department got to the scene at 5:53 a.m., and units had cleared the scene by 7 a.m., though a few crews stayed after the suppression crews left.

He said the department would begin investigation into the origins of the fire at 11 a.m. There were no injuries or casualties, said Damron.
