Tullahoma runners qualify for State

Xavier Farrell and Lucus Willete both placed in the TSSAA DI Class AA Sectional Decathlon for Middle Tennessee, qualifying for the State Decathlon scheduled for May 15 and 16.
Farrell was the runner up and Willete finished sixth. Their combined score of 11 points gave the Wildcats the second place finish for team. Andrew Carmack and Ella Miller also competed in the Decathlon/Pentathlon for Tullahoma, but neither athlete placed.
On April 27, Tullahoma went to Franklin County for a meet and finished second overall with 456 combined points. The Wildcats finished first with 272 and the Lady ‘Cats were second with 184 points.
The athletes who won an event were; Andrew Ewing, Lukas Price, Brayden Johnson, Farrell, the boys’ 4×100 meter relay team, the 4×200 relay team, 4×400 relay team, Carmack, DeCarlos Slaughter, Sarah Eakin, Ellie Uehlein, Gabriella Dacosta and Ella Miller. Miller won the girls’ shot put with a distance of 27 feet 09.50 inches. Dacosta won the girls’ 300 meter hurdles with a time of 51.87 seconds. Uehlein won the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:33.29. She also won the girls’ 1600 with a time of 5:55.92. Eakin won the 400 meter in 1:03.70 and the 200 in 26.40.
Slaughter won the boys’ shot put with a mark of 41-04.00. Farrell won the discus throw with a distance of 118 feet 4 inches. Carmack won the boys’ long jump with a distance of 18 feet 7 inches. The boys’ 4×400 team finished in 3:51.00. The 4×200 team won in 1:34.54 and the 4×100 team had a time of 44.61. Farrell finished the 300 hurdles in 43.70. Johnson won the 3200 with a time of 12:04.15. Price won the 1600 with a mark of 4:57.55. Ewing won the 200 in 22.39. He won the 100 with a time of 11.07.
Eakin’s 13.17 in the 100 meter set a team season best. Her 200 finish of 26.40 was another team season best. Dacosta set a team best finish in the 300 hurdle with her 51.87 time. Miller set two season bests, the long jump of 15 feet 10.5 inches and shot put of 27-9.5. The boys’ team set nine team best at the meet. Farrell set two, the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.70 and the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.70. Price and Willete also set two. Price set the 1600 with his 4:57.55 finish and the 800 with a time of 2:14.30. Willete set the pole vault with his best of seven feet and the high jump with his six foot mark. Slaughter set the best shot put of 41-4 distance. Khani Johnson set the best 400 finish of the season with his time of 53.97. Ewing had the best 200 finish at 22.39. Brindley Duncan set a team record for the 800 at the Great Eight Invitational with a time of 2:15.97. She was the runner up in the event and she was the only freshman competing in that event. This is the only team record set this season so far.
