The Tullahoma High School track team competed in four events at the TSSAA State Track and Field Championship at MTSU this week and brought home medals in all four events.

Andrew Ewing started it off finishing seventh in the 2A boys’ 100 meter dash. Ewing had a time of 11.45 seconds. He was just .27 seconds from third place. He ran a 10.93 at the sectional meet for his season best, that time would have been first place in the State meet. This was the second straight year Ewing has medaled at State, he medaled in the 200 last year. The next event the Wildcats competed in was the 4×200 meter relay. The team of Logan Prosser, Jalen Hill, Khani Johnson and Ewing finished third. They ran a 1:31.59. They were less than a second slower than their season best of 1:30.78 at the sectional meet. Three of the four members of the relay team were a part of the third place team last year. Johnson replaced Grant Allan, who graduated last spring.

The Lady Wildcats first event was the girls’ 400 meter dash. Emerald Tillmon finished in seventh. She ran a 1:01.15. Tillmon was just 2.03 seconds away from the third place finisher. Her season best was at the sectional meet with a time of 1:00.88, which would’ve had her finish in fifth. Tillmon is just a freshman. The other runner at the State Championship for Tullahoma was another freshman, Brindley Duncan. She competed in the 800 meter run and finished as the runner up. She ran a 2:19.36. Duncan’s season best was a 2:15.97 at the Great Eight Invitational, tying a school record. That time would’ve been a first place finish by nearly two full seconds. Duncan’s State time was better than her sectional meet time by 0.30 seconds.

Tullahoma also had two runners compete in the TSSAA Division 1 Decathlon State Championship. Lucus Willete and Xavier Farrell were at MTSU on May 15 and 16 for that competition.

Farrell finished in fifth with 4653 points and Willete was in ninth with 4389. In the 100 meter dash, Willete finished in eighth with a time of 12.35. Farrell placed tenth at 12.84. Farrell was seventh in the 400 with a time of 56.85. Willete finished right behind him in eighth at 57.90. Willete finished third in the 1500 meter at 5:05.67, which was the season best for Tullahoma. Farrell was fourth with a time of 5:13.08. Farrell had another fourth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.14. Willete was tenth with a time of 20.68. Willete and Farrell took the top two spots in the high jump. Willete won with a best of 5-8 and Farrell had a 5-6.25 for second. Willete was the runner up in the long jump with a distance of 19-4. Farrell came in sixth with a 17-7.75. In the triple jump Willete was third with a distance of 37-11.5. Farrell was sixth with a best of 37-0. Willete set a season best in the pole vault with a height of 8-0 for sixth place. Farrell was the runner up in the discus throw with a distance of 122-7.25. Willete finished in ninth with 74-1.75. Farrell was fourth in the shot put with a 36-9.75. Willete was tenth at 28-1.
