This past week, the City of Tullahoma held a tree dedication ceremony to honor Scott Robertson, a long-dedicated building inspector for the city who passed away this year.

According to city officials, “The ceremony took place at the Tullahoma Planning and Codes office, where friends, family, colleagues, and community members gathered to celebrate Scott’s life and contributions to the city.”

Robertson was born and raised in Tullahoma, and dedicated his life to serving his community. He worked as a custom homebuilder and a machinist for Microcraft and Nissan before he became a city Codes Inspector, stated officials.

“Known for his attention to detail, Scott played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of buildings throughout the community.”

The tree planted in his honor was a Winter King Green Hawthorn, which, according to officials, symbolizes growth, strength and Robertson’s enduring impact on those who knew him.

Mayor Ray Knowis said “Scott was more than just a colleague; he was a friend to many of us and a pillar of our community. This tree serves as a living tribute to his legacy and a place where future generations can remember and honor his dedication to our city.”

City Administrator Jason Quick added “Scott’s work was fundamental in shaping the safety and aesthetic of our city. This tree will stand as a reminder of his professional excellence and his kind spirit.”

A commemorative plaque with Robertson’s name and a tribute to his service to the city has been placed at the base of the tree.
