The activities TUA will have for to attendees includes bucket truck rides, which will give visitors a glance of Tullahoma from 50 feet in the air, prize wheels, a bounce house, carnival games and power safety demonstrations to help educate the public on how they serve electricity to homes.

Prior to the event, Mayor Lynn Sebourn presented a proclamation recognizing Public Power Week from Oct. 6 through 12 to celebrate TUA’s year-round service to the community.

“Tullahoma Utilities Authority provides our homes, businesses and local government agencies with reliable, efficient and cost-effective electricity employing sound business practices designed to ensure the best possible service at not-for-profit rates,” Sebourn said. “Tullahoma Utilities Authority is a valuable community asset that contributes substantially to the well-being of local citizens through energy efficiency, customer service, community support, economic development and safety awareness.”

Sebourn continued and said TUA had taken on additional stewardship for the community’s information infrastructure through a broadband network, providing internet, cable, telephone and other services, which helped to expand both the community and economic development.

“The week of Oct. 6-12 be designated the 38th annual Public Power Week in order to honor Tullahoma Utilities Authority for its contributions to the community and to make its consumer-owners, policy makers and employees more aware of its contributions to their well-being and how it makes their lives powerful,” Sebourn said. “Our community joins hands with more than 2,000 other public power systems in the United Sates in this celebration of public power and recognition that Tullahoma Utilities Authority is good for consumers, business, the community and the nation.”

After presenting the proclamation, TUA President Allen Potter thanked the mayor and aldermen for the proclamation, as well as thanking City Administrator Jason Quick and the Parks and Recreation Department for their assistance with TUA’s movie night event. He then encouraged everyone in the community to stop by the event.

“You’re invited, the community is invited,” Potter said. “We look forward to seeing you all.”
