Hemken Memorial Scholarship

The family of former Tullahoma High School baseball player Greg Hemken announced a new scholarship titled the Greg Hemken Memorial Scholarship. This award, presented to THS Baseball Coach Bryan Morris and THS Athletic Director John Olive (far right), will honor a THS baseball player, and they will be presented with a $500 scholarship. The first Greg Hemken Memorial Scholarship winner will be announced in the spring of 2025. A plaque with each recipient will be posted inside the high school.

Hemken was a former Tullahoma High School baseball player and passed away in April. He started his baseball career in Tullahoma playing Little League, Babe Ruth, and with various summer teams where he was selected to be part of several all-star teams and all-tournament teams. During his sophomore season at THS, Hemken was a member of the 1974 team that won the Tennessee State Championship. He and his 1974 teammates were inducted into the Tullahoma Sports Hall of Fame in 2019. After graduating from THS in 1976, Hemken earned a baseball scholarship to Motlow State Community College, where he set several records and had a .399 batting average and 19 home runs.
