Shirley R. Jackson Womble Crumley, Obituary
Shirley R. Jackson Womble Crumley, 89, of Normandy, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2024 at NHC surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Shelbyville, she was born to the late Johnny Jackson and the late Ethel Mae Arnold. During her life she worked as an LPN at the Bedford County Hospital, before going to work at the Woodway Corporation in the office and as a plant nurse. Following her time at Woodway Corporation, Shirley continued her career as an LPN at Bedford County Nursing Home. She retired from the Bedford County Trustee’s office in 1996. Shirley loved being a prayer warrior for many people in her church. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma for over 25 years and had many special friends in her Sunday School class. She was fondly known by many people as Mimi, which she treasured. In addition to her biological parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her stepfather, William M. Arnold; and a great-grandson, Greyson Tucker Shasteen. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Shasteen and her husband Richard of Normandy; one grandson, Jackson Shasteen and his wife Taylor of Tullahoma; her great-grandson, Jettson Richard Shasteen of Tullahoma; and one half-sister, Sallie Jackson Darnell of Shelbyville.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Kilgore Funeral Home with the funeral following with Tim McGehee and Garry Irvin officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelbyville with Kyle Smith, Ben Woody, Warren Landers, Jerry Siler, Richard Medley, and Jackson Shasteen serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Waller, Darnell Ortner, Chris Jones, Dayton Arnold, and Dana Eggleston.
Kilgore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
