Lady Wildcats fall short of Brentwood Academy
GRAY DEYOSports Writer
The Tullahoma girls’ basketball team entered the fourth quarter tied at 39-39 with five-time state champion Brentwood Academy. Sadly, the Lady Wildcats ran out of steam at the end of the contest, losing 50-47.
Sophomore Faith Vincent had her game of the year for Tullahoma, scoring a team-high and season-high 13 points. She had 10 points in the first half which helped Tullahoma get a nine-point advantage going into the locker room.
Vincent’s play has flown under the radar this year. She has had moments that show that although the Lady Wildcats will be without their two main contributors–senior Isabella Lidstrom and junior McLayne Bobo–in two years, that herself and a group of other talented under classmen are already capable of having an impact on winning at the varsity level.
Vincent in the current rendition of the Lady Wildcats mainly provides head coach Chad Hibdon with a jumper that spaces the floor on the outside and some high effort on-ball defense. Vincent shows off her scrappy defense every night she steps on the court and she showed the damage her outside shot can do against BA, by draining in three threes.
Despite the second-year Lady Wildcat’s impactful game, Tullahoma lost a back-and-forth grudge match in the fourth quarter, as they got outscored 11-8. They fell just one signature Bobo or Aubrey North three away from overtime and a chance to stop their slide of losses.
But unfortunately it continues.
The Wildcats will look to pair a win with the winter weather when they take on Cookeville High School on Dec. 27, in their last game in December.
