Thank you to our volunteers

Spring has finally arrived, and what a joy it is to see the progression of the flowering trees, the beautiful blossoms on the cherry trees, the pink and white blossoms of the dogwoods, and now the greening of the big trees as their leaves are beginning to come forth. And even the occasional warmer days let us know the promise of spring is here.

With the arrival of April, we have much to celebrate, and since April is known as Volunteer Appreciation Month, it is time to say “thank you” to the many who volunteer in our community.  They give so much of themselves to help make life a little better for others.

The number of volunteer hours spent each month is astronomical.

Members of local Churches have many outreach programs, the numerous non-profit organizations have many volunteers who do their work in the community, and so many friends and neighbors never hesitate to provide transportation for someone when it is needed or take a meal to someone.

When you are reading this, you may be thinking, “Well, I am one of those volunteers, but I don’t need to be thanked!” One doesn’t have to be a part of a formal organization to be acknowledged as a volunteer. For many it is just their nature to lend a helping hand whenever it is needed.

So, if you are new to Tullahoma, and you would like to volunteer as part of a group, check with the Chamber of Commerce for some of the volunteer organizations, check with your church or you r neighborhood association, or ask your neighbors!

There are many civic organizations who would love to have you join them and be a part of all the projects that they do to help so many.

There is no monetary gift involved when you are a volunteer,  but you are paid ten-fold from the joy you receive when you u have helped others, especially when you receive a smile because you have made someone’s life a little better!  And did you know that volunteering is good for your own health? When you are helping others, it helps to reduce you blood pressure, it helps to reduce wrinkles because you are smiling instead of frowning, and it makes your heart sing when you bring joy to others! This is one volunteer who says THANK YOU to all the other volunteers out there making life better for all in our community. And that is why we are a community! Neighbors helping Neighbors!!!
