Earth Day Message 2025
B
By now, it should be apparent to even the casual observer that humanity, using its highly developed mind, its superior power of reason, and its ever-changing intellectual prowess and advancing technologies, cannot keep from making things harder on itself and its only support system, the Earth. Human nature, as it manifests through these twisted channels and processes, generally errs in the collective. Globally, is anything getting better with violence between ourselves or between ourselves and all of God’s other creatures and life forms? Does the total amount of hatred and/or blaming others for one’s woes seem to be diminishing? Haven’t the power brokers hitched our wagon to the wrong God, worshiping perpetual growth through capitalism and profit-making over siding with the Divine being who created all that is? Don’t most humans believe that the Earth was put here for us to use, consume, and abuse if necessary? Don’t we perpetually think that our specie is the top of creation, ordained by God to “dominate” Nature? That we are special and separate from Nature? Humans have been deluding ourselves for a very long time, and in the evolutionary stage in which we humans currently operate, we will continue to delude ourselves, preaching to the human choir that we humans can achieve and do anything, fix anything, develop any technology needed to finally make all the inequity and hate and blame and violence go away. Humanity is super smart, but even with collective brain power of 8+ billion humans (plus AI), we still believe in the pipe dream that peace on earth will be achieved by ego-driven Homo sapiens. Peace hasn’t happened yet, and there doesn’t seem to be any light at the end of the Homo sapiens operational tunnel.
Through a process of elimination – going through each possible life scenario, taking into account the complexity of life’s interactions and Nature’s need for balance within slowly evolving change – we come to realize that there is nothing humanity can do to “fix” things: we are just not smart enough, even with the help of AI, and as Jiddu Krishnamurti said “It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society”. To paraphrase Albert Einstein, you can’t fix a problem with the same mind that you used to get into it.
At the end of that process of elimination, you come to understand – not yet know – that what we are doing, how we are doing it – how we “operate” and “dominate” the planet – will never be sustainable for us or the rest of life. Something different has to manifest. Evolution has to proceed to the next step, with or without humans.
The needed higher manifestation has already occurred: the glass ceiling to a spiritual life – something most religions believe in and talking about manifesting – has already been broken. A spiritual life has been made possible, because many, including Jesus, lived it. It is time to stop worshipping Jesus and start living what he said. Stop being human, and self-evolve into a spiritual being like he was. He stated that we could do everything he has done, and more, so why don’t we? Why don’t we put our priority on that goal instead of just seeing how many widgets we can obtain? Those of us that do not focus on achieving a spiritual life above all else, including me, are hypocrites to our souls, believing the hubris of the ego that our brains and intellect can eventually fix anything; beware the human ego.
