Have you had a good week?

How are y’all? Have you had a good week? Everyone gets smacked with surprise and fun problems. Like car issues, my Mini Cooper has taken up residence at my foreign car mechanics, and now my little red car has decided to act up. And, of course we all had to duck and hide during our last tornado scare. Oh Lord. But I decided a long time ago to focus on the happy highlights of each week. It keeps me from pitching a hissy fit-at least most of the time.

So here are a few happy highlights from this past week. Last weekend I stayed in a fabulous vacation home on thirty acres. The house is just short of being a mansion. I would walk around the property at least twice a day, through the woods, stopping to watch the Canadian geese in pure wonder. I got a kick out of two of them, I was told by the owner that two of them had eggs they were watching near the pond. As I walked past the pond two of them swooped down low, flying over my head and calling at me. Being a protective Mama myself, I recognized that they were warning me to stay away from their babies. Also, while being out smelling the Lily of the Valley one morning a gorgeous red fox ran by about 30 yards from me. I saw her gorgeous red plume tail and red fur shining in the sun.

During the week I went to the horse barn with my daughter, grandson and granddaughter. My granddaughter’s horse Tipsy has been a big joy for us all. I call her my grand horse. My seven-year-old grandson MJ is the cutest, smartest little monkey. I always bring him glass bottle sodas and he drags it around the barn with him, taking big sups. The bottle is almost as big as him. He had his own phone and wanted me to help him google President Donald Trump. I said, “What you want to do that for?” He said, “I want to know what he looks like. Ha.

I spent a lot of this week talking with old friends. Trish from Idaho, Mary from Virginia, Karen from Connecticut. Now reader’s, is there anything better for a woman than a conversation with a good friend?

Today I begged my little red car to just run long enough to drive me to the mountains to Beersheba Springs Public Library, the only log cabin library in the state. It went into operation in 1924. I thought the ambience would be perfect for writing this week’s column. Beersheba Springs is just barely a town. It is made up mostly of antique homes that have been in families as getaway homes for wealthy Nashville folks. Such a dream. I passed by a cool looking coffee shop on my way here, I am going to stop on my way home and get some caffeine, which will make my great day buzz even better.

If you want a day trip in this part of the state I would highly recommend Beersheba Springs. There will be an art festival will be here in the Fall. If you want to stay be sure and stay in the antique Beersheba Springs assembly, which is right on a breathtaking bluff and has been there since the Civil War.

Another last good highlight y’all-James Taylors song, How Sweet It Is to Be Loved by You, came on while writing this column, washing over me with the sweetest memories of my first boyfriend who used to sing it to me. Sigh. See y’all-life has tornadoes and broken cars, but it also has many a good week in the life. Here’s to wishing that yours is.
