TCS named 2025 Best Communities for Music Education Award Winner

For the fourth straight year, Tullahoma City Schools has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education Award from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.

This year marks the sixth time the district has been the recipient of this honor. Tullahoma City Schools is one of 11 districts across the state and one of 935 school districts nationwide to receive this distinction.

“Being named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by NAMM is a tremendous honor and a testament to the unwavering support for the arts in our district,” said TCS Fine Arts Coordinator Sarah McVey. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our music educators, the enthusiasm of our students and the commitment from our administrators, school board, and community to providing meaningful, high-quality music education for all. We are proud to celebrate this achievement together.”

Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education award program recognizes and celebrates outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to and access to music education.

The Best Communities for Music Education Award recognizes that a healthy music community is defined by a wealth of passion and commitment from leaders who leverage every resource to expand opportunities for children to learn and grow through music-making. Throughout the award’s 26 years, the Foundation has recognized thousands of school districts and schools in 46 states. From rural to metropolitan, large and small, public and non-public schools, the NAMM Foundation proudly honors the diversity of educational communities that support students’ musical growth.

“I am so proud that our fine arts programs are once again receiving the national recognition they deserve,” said TCS Director of Schools, Dr. Catherine Stephens. “Our music programs are exceptional, and this honor highlights a myriad of people, including our team of amazing music teachers who lead, teach and train our incredible students. Additionally, the award honors our school board, which supports and encourages music education and experiences for students. Lastly, this accolade is a reflection on the Tullahoma Community that emphasizes the importance of music as part of a well-rounded education.”
