Six teams in the Tullahoma adult baseball field took the diamond on July 17, and here are the results.
Reds vs Athletics
The Reds saw their undefeated 3-0 record disappear after the Athletics beat them 10-5.
The Reds, despite the loss, started with the momentum in this matchup, scoring two runs in the opening inning. But the Athletics were quick to swing the tide. In the bottom of the second, they scored six runs. This came from three singles from Luke Hendrick, Keller Cook, and Dallas Bryan. Layne Hackworth and Jordan Welker also contributed to the production, producing an RBI walk and a groundball. The Reds chipped in a couple of runs after the onslaught by the Athletics, but it was not enough. The Athletics, after their win, improved to 1-2 on the season.
Piñatas vs Outlaws
Like the Athletics, the Piñatas grabbed their first win of the year. They defeated the Outlaws 13-3.
The Piñatas started scoring at the top of the second, and did not stop until the end of the game. From the second to the fifth, they produced at least two runs in each frame. They got great production from their roster top to bottom, generating a total of 13 hits–a season high for the team. Brady Nugent and Luke Davidson led the way in the hit department, each getting three in the contest. Brady O’Neal led the team in RBIs with three. The Piñatas now have a record of 1-3, while the Outlaws sit at the bottom of the league with a record of 0-3.
Stache vs Royals
The Stache and Royals rounded up the slate of games on July 17, and it was the Stache that came out on top, winning 6-1.
It was a low-scoring game to start in this contest. Through the first four innings, the teams combined for three runs, with the Stache holding a 2-1 lead. However, in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Stache erupted for four runs. They rattled off three singles in the inning, with a two-run knock from Chayse Frye starting the scoring for the Stache. The other two runs in the frame came from an RBI groundout and hit by pitch. The Royals’ record after the contest now sits at 2-1, while the Stache’s record is now 2-2.
