Hands on for 35 years: HOSC celebrates birthday this weekend

The Hands-On Science Center is all hands-on deck as it will be hosting its annual Birthday Bash this weekend to celebrate 35 years as a nonprofit organization.

This year’s Birthday Bash, sponsored by Ascend Federal Credit Union, Master of Ceremonies and Christopher Equipment, will take place this Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will be free admission, and will be filled with various family friendly activities to celebrate the science center’s three and a half decades as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

“Join us for a one-day-only celebration packed with science, surprises, and tons of family fun,” HOSC officials said in a statement. “Whether you’re a long-time supporter or a first-time visitor, this is the perfect day to discover everything the Hands-On Science Center has to offer.”

The full day event will feature special one-day-only discounts on memberships and Fall Science Camp, Kona Ice, a giant bounce house, face painting, games and activities for all ages and giveaways.

Also happening throughout the day will be live science shows.

The live science shows will feature: Janet Ivey from Janet’s Planet, Bill Boss, the Middle Tennessee Raptor Center, Werner Nowak, Dr. Patrick Murphy, the Tullahoma Fire Department, Air Force STEM, Jim Burns and Robert Proffit. 

“We’re so proud of everything we’ve accomplished over the last 35 years — and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing community,” HOSC officials said. “This celebration is our way of saying thank you!”
