The Tullahoma Area Economic Development Corporation (TAEDC), an independent agency of Tullahoma City Government, is actively searching for an Executive Director to replace previous director Winston Brooks.

Brooks, who served as the Executive Director for three years, left Tullahoma June 12th to become the Director of Economic Development and Entrepreneurship for the city of Chattanooga.

TAEDC is the economic development art for the city, with an emphasis on retail, medical, technical and service industries, plus the aerospace and aviation economic sectors.

The TAEDC advertised the open position with the Tennessee Economic Development Council, Tennessee Certified Economic Development Program, Tullahoma Area Chamber of Commerce website, Indeed, and ZipRecruiter.

The responsibilities the TAEDC outlined in the employment ad include:  proactively direct and pursue economic development initiatives, act as an economic development strategist, develop effective marketing materials, identify target industries and companies, act as liaison with local, state and federal agencies, and coordinate grant applications.

Qualifications include a minimum bachelor’s degree and minimum of five years’ experience in economic development with increasing levels of responsibility.

The salary range posted for the director position is $91,000 to $98,000 annually with vision, medical, life, and dental insurance provided.

On Monday, August 18, the TAEDC review committee met and reviewed the 40 applications. Applications were received from 13 states.

“The review committee met and narrowed the 40 applicants’ resumes to two candidates for full TAEDC board review and interviews,” according to Beverly Lee, Chair of TAEDC.  “We hope to have someone on board by September or October.”

Lee continued, “The TAEDC is committed to attracting new businesses, retaining existing businesses and boosting job creation.”

Through unique incentives like “Payments In Lieu of Taxes” (PILOT) and Tax Increment Financing (TIF), the TAEDC has been instrumental in transforming the Northgate Mall area and attracting organizations like Publix, Marshall’s and Old Navy.  The TAEDC was also involved in developments such as Tullahoma Villages and NHC Healthcare.

TAEDC has been recognized with six International Economic Development Council awards over the past four years.
