TAEDC finalizes pick for new executive director

After a regional search, applications from over forty individuals and interviews with selected candidates, the Tullahoma Area Economic Development Corporation (TAEDC) has recommended to the Board of Mayor of Mayor and Aldermen a new Executive Director.
The TAEDC Board made a unanimous decision to offer the position of Executive Director to Ms. Kelly North. It is expected the Board of Mayor and Aldermen will confirm the recommendation Monday evening as part of their regular Board agenda.
A graduate of Tullahoma High School, Ms. North has a Master of Science degree in Social Innovation and Non-Profit Management and Bachelor of Business Administration from MTSU.
Ms. North is a Tullahoma resident and active in Tullahoma School System activities.
For the past four years, Ms. North has served as the Interim CEO and Vice President of the Shelbyville Bedford Partnership, a multi-faceted economic development organization. During her tenure she led business recruitment and retention, workforce initiatives, tourism promotion and Chamber functions. Prior to her current position, she served for five years as the Director for Workforce Development with the Shelbyville-Bedford Chamber of Commerce.
According to interim TAEDC Director and City Administrator Jason Quick, “Ms. North has developed a strong reputation for being a results-oriented, out of the box thinker who creates opportunities that advance the common good for all.”
If confirmed Ms. North is expected to start work Sept. 29.
TAEDC is the economic development arm for the city with an emphasis on retail, medical, technical and service industries plus the aerospace and aviation economic sectors.
