Tullahoma girls’ soccer prepare for playoffs

GRAY DEYOSports Writer

The Tullahoma Lady Wildcats closed out the last two of their regular-season games with a win and a loss. With their season now over, they move into postseason play, starting on Oct. 14, where they take on the winner of Giles County and Spring Hill. Here is a recap of their last two matches of the season and a brief preview of their first playoff game.

Last two regular season games

Tullahoma, for their final two games of the regular season, took on Franklin County and KIPP Global. In their first game of the two, they logged their first and what ended up being their only loss of the 2025 season, losing to the Lady Rebels 1-0.

The game went back and forth, and Tullahoma had its fair share of opportunities as they always do, but they just could not get a shot to the back of Franklin County’s net. The lone goal that went past Tullahoma’s junior keeper, Anzley Holloway, was only the fifth goal she has allowed all season. This is the lowest total by any Lady Wildcats keeper in over a decade. In the match against the Lady Rebels, Holloway had five saves.

The Tullahoma girls were quick to bounce back in their next and final game of the season against KIPP Global, where they netted nine goals in their ninth shutout win of the season.

The Lady Wildcats dominated this game from the initial whistle that started play. Two seniors for Tullahoma ended up having hat tricks in the contest–McLayne Bobo and Avery Sisk. The two throughout the season have been reliable offensive scorers, with Bobo leading the way in that department as she finishes the 2025 regular season as the goal leader for the Lady Wildcats soccer team. Bobo also held this scoring title last year.

The other three goals in the game were scored by two other seniors, Catelynn Ballard and Jossalyn Garcia, and junior Macy Marcel. With this win, the Lady Wildcats officially end their 2025 regular season with a 13-1 record and a 6-0 district record.

Playoff Preview

The Lady Wildcats will not find out their opponent for their first playoff game until the night of October 9, where the winner of Giles County vs. Spring Hill High School will play them. Tullahoma has played both teams this year and won both games with a combined score of 12-1. Neither school is coming into the postseason in great form. Spring Hill closed out their final five games with a record of 0-3-2 and Giles closed out with a record of 1-2-2. Giles and Spring Hill in their lone game against each other this year showed they are pretty evenly matched, ending in a 0-0 tie.

The only key for Tullahoma in their first playoff matchup in 2025 is that they just need to play how they did in the regular season. The playoffs have a different energy, and it is easy to get caught up in it. This can cause unusual mistakes. If Tullahoma can ignore this energy and use it as a positive to only intensify and sharpen their play, they should have no issue getting the win on October 14th, regardless of who they play.
