Eli Grow Legacy 8k this Saturday

On Nov. 1, anyone who loves to run, walk, or just do something for a good cause can participate in the Eli Grow Legacy 8k.

The proceeds of this event go to providing athletic and academic opportunities for high school students all over TN. Former Tullahoma student and member of the Wildcat football team, Eli Grow, talked with his parents about making a training facility, Casey, and Tony Grow, weeks prior to passing away.

Eli in 2016 was headed home when he fell asleep at the wheel while driving and was then in a fatal car accident. His parents, in his memory, made the Eli Grow foundation. The Legacy 8k is a big part of the driving force in it to help raise money for giving back to the community Eli loved and to again help provide athletic and academic opportunities for high school students in TN.

“The Eli Legacy 8K brings so many of our family’s friends together for fellowship,  fun, fundraising, and especially remembering Eli as well as other children who have gone to Heaven much sooner than we wanted! Our Family is always amazed and tremendously THANKFUL for all the community support and the many Volunteers who help before, during, and after the 8K,” said Casey Grow regarding the run.

Casey Grow wanted to let any participants and people thinking of signing up know that the run is for everyone. If a person does not run every day or even often, that is ok. This event is perfect for anyone.

“The Eli Legacy 8K is not just a competitive 8K run. It can be a walk, a Ruck, or a group of friends, or a competitive team event. We also have a 1-mile fun run or walk! As well as kid dashes! There are many ways for everyone to participate,” said Casey Grow.

“We are all ready to go on November 1st, thanks to the help from the City of Tullahoma and TDOT. Our normal route will be the same this year. With a one lane closure on Wilson Avenue as well as Police helping to keep our participants safe on their way down Wilson Avenue , Highway 130, and crossing Cedar Lane.”

There is more information about the event on eligrow.raceroster.com. Signups for the event last all the way up until midnight the day of the race, and people can also still do late signups the day of the Legacy 8k.
