Parkview Senior Living improves lives
L
Five years ago Parkview Senior Living brought a new way of residential living for active Tullahoma seniors.
Tullahoma seniors know about assisted living-the option for seniors needing help with daily activities but not 24/7 skilled nursing care. And, of course, many seniors make their home in a single family residence.
But what about active lifestyle seniors who are lonely and want socialization? Or active lifestyle seniors tired of mowing their lawn? Or active lifestyle seniors whose family live out of state and the family had no eyes or ears on their loved ones? Or active lifestyle seniors who fall and are home alone? There was no place for active lifestyle seniors who were not ready for assisted living to go.
In December, 2020, the 99 apartments at Parkview Senior Living helped fill that need.
What does senior active lifestyle mean? According to longtime Parkview Director Jenny Comstock, “An active lifestyle does not mean running a marathon. It’s about regular, meaningful movement and engagement that supports health, independence and joy.”
There are amenities galore at Parkview to support an active lifestyle from chef prepared meals, movie theatre/performance center, fitness center, an outdoor walking trail and library. Additional amenities include a spa, on site masseuse, arts and craft studio, full service salon, lifeline pendant system, transportation services, housekeeping and laundry services. Onsite personnel are available 24/7. Parkview is also pet friendly. There is a guest suite available for guests of residents.
Four different size apartments are available for residents including studio, 1 bedroom, 1 bedroom deluxe and 2 bedroom/2 bathroom options.
According to Mrs. Comstock, the youngest resident is 63 and the oldest is 98. There are residents that live at Parkview and still work.
One Parkview resident, whose husband had passed away, said, “I was home alone just sitting around in my recliner all day. I needed community and friendship. I like to stay busy. I did the figures and realized that living at Parkview was very cost effective and decided to move to Parkview. I love it here and very happy here.”
The 34 Parkview employees work hard to make Parkview a home for the residents. One resident offered, “This is the best place around. Employees care and make life interesting. Parkview increased my quality of life. This is my home.”
Another resident said, “This is a beautiful place.”
The entrance foyer reinforce the beautiful aspect of Parkview. The foyer is warm, elegant and welcoming. The indoor tree and greenery in the foyer bring life along with a peaceful garden. The polished wood floors reflect the light from the classic chandeliers. The foyer gives the impression of timeless charm, care and quiet sophistication.
According to Mrs. Comstock, “Residents will never go hungry at Parkview. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided. Dinners are a chef’s choice or residents can order from an alternative menu. Cookies, fruit, ice cream and hot chocolate are available in the Bistro. Everyone’s favorite is Happy Hour on Fridays.”
Parkview Senior Living residents have the opportunity to make acquaintances with residents from all over the world. Currently, residents are from California, Virginia, New Mexico and Germany.
Mrs. Comstock has been with Parkview since it opened five years ago. When she first visited Parkview, “I saw the beautiful building and the change it was making to improve seniors lives and my exact words were, ‘I have to be a part of this.'”
